Turkey chipotle burger

This has to be one of the easiest, tastiest meals I’ve ever made, so I thought I’d share it with you. It has exactly three ingredients, but you’d never know it from the flavor. This recipe makes 4 4-oz burgers. It’s pretty spicy though, so if you don’t like hot stuff, it’s not for you (that’s for Mom).

1 lb ground turkey
1/2 can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
4 1-oz slices colby jack, jack, or jalapeno jack cheese

The chipotle peppers are easy to find in the Mexican section of the grocery store, and for this recipe you will only need about half the can – 6 peppers in sauce. The recipe comes out quite spicy-hot, so if you want it milder, slice each pepper in half and strip the seeds first, or use fewer peppers. The peppers and sauce add so much flavor to the turkey that nothing else is needed.

Finely chop the peppers and add the peppers and sauce to the ground turkey, mixing thoroughly. Divide the turkey into four burger patties. Fry them in a frying pan for a few minutes, then flip them over and put the cheese slices on top. Cook until the burger is done and the cheese is melted, a couple more minutes.

This recipe has so few carbs that you can afford some extra on the side. Try dressing it up with chopped green onions, tomatoes, and cilantro, or a bit of sour cream and salsa on the side.

Nutrition: 1 burger has 24 gm protein, 2 gm carbs (without sides)
